Should school lunches be free for teachers?
It depends. If the teacher is supposed to practice their teaching skills with the students during school lunch, it is perfectly fine to offer the teacher a free school lunch. However, if the teacher does not have a supervisory role, the lunch should be paid for.
During the educational lunch, a NO lesson on the cycle can be followed by a rewarding discussion about cultivation and nutrients. It is a perfect time for children to build relationships with adults and deepen their knowledge in a relaxed and interactive way.

Elise works as a teacher at a school where they have chosen to provide our web app Microdeb Me with the associated self-service payment terminal. Three days a week she has supervision duties for her class and then the school invites her to lunch. The other two days she pre-orders lunch via our web app Microdeb Me. At the school restaurant, it is more expensive to “take-away” (80 SEK) than to “eat here” (30 SEK). Something that goes against how traditional restaurants work. With this pricing, the school wants to encourage teachers to eat in the dining room (even if they do not have supervision duties) to create a calmer lunch environment.
Other schools have chosen a system of offering free lunch to teachers who do not have supervisory responsibilities. In these cases, the free lunch is taxed preferentially via payroll deductions for the teacher or school staff.
Tickets, torn notes and coupons
Our employee Bo Nilsson says that many schools he has visited, in his role as a salesperson, use an analog system with tickets, torn pieces of paper or coupons. It can of course have its charm with a physical ticket that you present to receive a free lunch. But from an economic and climate perspective, there are great benefits to going digital. Our system solutions offer automatic accounting and payroll deductions. It is also possible to offer payment in the dining room without a physical cash register. Our web app Microdeb Me offers both card and Swish payments directly on your mobile phone. You can also pre-order, which reduces waste for the kitchen. We also offer self-service terminals.
